Oscar and Grammy-winning composer AR Rahman has received a Grammy nomination for his Tamil classical fusion album "Thennindiya Paravaigal" (Birds of South India) in the Best World Music Album category.

The album, released in October 2024, blends Carnatic classical music with contemporary electronic arrangements, featuring collaborations with MS Subbulakshmi's granddaughter and young vocalist Bombay Jayashri Ramnath.

Rahman dedicated the nomination to "the rivers, temples, and people of Tamil Nadu" in a social media post, which was widely shared.
