The Tamil Nadu legislative assembly on Wednesday passed a historic resolution calling on the President of India to recall Governor RN Ravi, citing his repeated interference in the elected government's functioning.

The resolution, moved by Law Minister S Regupathy, was passed with 151 votes in favour and 64 against, along party lines.

The DMK government has been at loggerheads with the Governor over his refusal to give assent to bills passed by the assembly, including critical legislation on university appointments.
